Like all websites created by SightSpecific, Inc., our website has gone through a tremendous amount of compatibility checks, spell checks, grammar checks, . . . you name it. Below, you'll find a complete list of all of the checks that we put every SightSpecific website through before declaring it complete.

HTML & Style Validation

HTML, the language that holds the web together, has rules of syntax that, when followed, ensure compatibility with the widest range of web browsers. Validation is a process by which a website's HTML code is checked against the syntax of the language, and declared as syntactically valid or syntactically invalid. Additionally, Weblint picks off all of the "fluff" from a website's code.

Webpage Accessibility

Very often, people fall under the false impression that the World-Wide Web is home to graphical browsers only. There are, however, other types of browsers that are commonly used; text-based browsers, text-based browsers used in conjunction with screen reading software, or speech browsers. Oftentimes, these browsers encounter problems in reading/rendering a website that contains certain types of extended markup. All SightSpecific websites are checked against the following verifiers and guidelines to ensure compatibility with the largest selection of browsers:

Bobby Approved
Bobby Approved - 4 Stars
Web Access Symbol (for people with disabilities)
NCAM Web Access

Web Browsers

The goal was to create a language that defines a document's structure in such a way that it could be presented on any platform, in any environment, in any way. That was the goal in mind when HTML was created and in large part, it has been successful. However, different browsers render webpages differently and it is important that a web-author ensure that the website presents itself well no matter the browser used, no matter the platform used. To that end, SightSpecific checks every page of every website it creates against the following browsers:

Netscape Navigator 1.0

Netscape Navigator 2.0

Netscape Navigator 3.0

Netscape Navigator 4.0

Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.02
[Too fast for you!]
Opera 2.12
  Lynx Friendly
Lynx 2.7.1

Spell & Grammar Checks

The soul of any website is its content. Most websites boast content that is textual in nature. To that end, certain checks must be applied to ensure that the site presents its content properly. SightSpecific uses the following validators and guidelines:
